In response to an advancing athletic world, athletes require additional care towards their body from the workouts created by athletic trainers to maximize performance, and prevent injury. The article’s function in my research serves as a red flag to audiences, indicating that there is a desire and need for this profession. Since the need for athletic trainers is more apparent than ever, an article such as Elberg’s facilitates talk through concussion facts for example and how to prevent them in student and adult athletes. Talk created such as this is positive for the sport medicine and training industry because of the desire and want that is created, supplying the industry. The source comes from American Academy of Health and Fitness which is a credible source that offers multiple articles based on the health and fitness industry. In addition to this, the author is a part of the Dayton Business Journal which again is a credible source.

This information will be useful to my own mentorship due to the fact that it mixes business/entrepreneurship information with the fitness industry. Understanding that the industry is booming and very successful gives hope for more trainers to come. Cressfield, Adam F. “How to Make it as a Personal Trainer.” The PTDC, 23 Feb. 2018, www.theptdc.com/2013/01/how-to-make-it-as-a-personal-trainer/.

To summarize the article, it's used is practical information used for the average personal trainer entrepreneur. It speaks on how you are your own boss, and how as a personal trainer you decide everything. You have to be your own accountability partner due to the high requirements of time. If you choose to be successful as a personal trainer, then it is completely up to you to make sure that you are. It looks at the business from the practical sense in that you have to deal with people who are very unreliable. Because of this, staying structured and always anticipating the cancellation is needed. Another point that was emphasized is hell the entire business has nothing to do with you. When someone requires a session, it is not just a physical work out but as well as the mental and emotional experience. Educating, teaching, advising, and inspiring are all needed when being a personal trainer.

“ if you’re wondering how to make it as a personal trainer my number one tip is to always put yourself in your client's shoes.”
“ becoming a confident and profitable personal trainer is just like learning to drive. It’s one thing to pass the test and to be let out on the loose, but it’s another thing to be confident in effective every single day.”
“ you, only you are responsible for your business!”

The article chose was listed in a top 10 articles of the month of January for personal fitness. This was listed on a credible fitness website that is used very frequently for personal trainers who own their own business. In addition to this, it is a 2018 article that provides up-to-date information. The PTDC in which article is written on has multiple articles all of which being credible sources from credible authors. The website is a .com that gives situational advice for personal trainers who are trying to start their own business. In no way is the author buyers due to the fact that the information provided is not trying to persuade want to think a certain way. If this were to be a book, it would be credible due to the fact that it provides situational content that can help better understand how to handle certain situations. The point of the article is to not persuade, yet informed on how to be better as a personal trainer.

This piece of information helps my research due to the fact that it does not provide any fluff when speaking on the requirements of a personal trainer. It gets straight down to the details and provides practical information that is needed. The source was helpful because it is not always easy dealing with the negatives, yet it is necessary. I can use this in my research project by promoting it as the negatives of personal training. The business is not all sunshine and rainbows, and that is good to understand when thinking about starting the business. Is important to consider all of the negative before truly doing the positives. This is clear in the article due to the fact that it helps the entrepreneur for any situation that takes place.
